Poster Contest

The Texas Gang Investigators Association
and the Texas School Safety Center
2012 Anti-Gang Poster Contest

Purpose

The Texas Gang Investigators Association recognizes that the war against gangs is more than just the suppression and prosecution of gang members.  Therefore we are proud to partner with the Texas School Safety Center to sponsor the Anti-Gang Poster Contest.  The contest is designed to motivate students to utilize their creative skills in an effort to show the dangers and pitfalls of gang life.

Rules

  • The poster contest will consist of two divisions: a junior division (grades 6-8), and a senior division (grades 9-12).

  • All contestants must be full-time students in good standing and currently enrolled in any Texas Independent school district, private school, charter school, or home school (with verification).  All entry information will be verified with the attending school before the entry will be accepted.

  • Each student may upload or submit only one poster entry.

  • The posters must focus on solutions to eliminate gangs and gang violence in schools.

  • Posters should be in good taste.  Any submissions with hand-signs, gestures or pro-gang graffiti will be disqualified.

  • Ten posters from each division will be selected as finalists by the Texas Gang Investigators Association. These ten finalists' submissions will be forwarded to a committee comprising judges from the Texas School Safety Center and the Texas Gang Investigators Association.  This panel of judges will be appointed by the Texas Gang Investigators Association to determine the top three winners from the junior and senior divisions.

  • Winners will be notified by a TGIA Representative once final selections are made.
